Budget: $3,000 to $4,000

Expectations:
Fast, Keep it for 4-5 years, Quiet

Usage:
Managing several databases of +100,000 pictures, need to to manage several tasks open at once (VPN, video conferencing, multiple web pages), light video editing, large excel spreadsheets. Occasionally watching a movie. General usage at home office, quiet and fast performance.

Thanks for all your comments in an earlier post. It feels like a lot of learning in a very short period of time. Thanks for any other inputs.

Looks like a very solid build. I think you went with the best balance of speed/price for the CPU.

Everything looks great.

From your other thread, I believe you didn't want to overclock the cpu for the added heat, but I would go for stage 1 oc.  The Turbo Boost only gets you the Turbo 3.9Ghz on a single core.  Overclocking will give you the overclock DS can get on all the cores.   Probably 4.2Ghz or so with the 6 core chip and the 120mm sealed cooler.  Not sure how much that will help your apps, but has to help a few percentage points I would think.

Thanks. Is this the cooler you are talking about? Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 120mm?

I'll discuss with DS when placing the order. If they feel it can be handled without additional fans/ noise, I'll go for it. Thanks

Yep, that's the cooler. Big%20Smile  The only other option for better cooling would be the 240mm cooler like a H100i, but that would mean taking off and leaving off the top cover which is where it would mount.  Problem with that is the Slade's excellent rep for quiet would be sacrificed to some degree.    Stick with the 120mm and see what DS says.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
